Das C-reaktive Protein (CRP) ist ein Biomarker, der zur Unterstützung klinischer Entscheidungen bei Infektionskrankheiten eingesetzt werden kann. In vielen Ländern mit niedrigen Antibiotikaverschreibungsraten haben sich CRP-Point-of-Care-Tests (POCT) in der ambulanten Medizin als wirksames Instrument bewährt, um die Notwendigkeit einer antibiotischen Therapie besser einzuschätzen.
Auch unser Institut führt in diesem Bereich verschiedene Forschungsprojekte durch bzw. ist an solchen beteiligt. Ziel dieser Arbeiten ist es, den evidenzbasierten und praxisnahen Einsatz von CRP-POCT in der hausärztlichen Versorgung weiter zu untersuchen.
