A core outcome set for the wellbeing of healthcare professionals: an international Delphi consensus study
What should we actually measure when we talk about healthcare professional wellbeing?
Across a panel spanning 20 countries and six continents, researchers developed a 10-item Core Outcome Set, with work–life balance, job satisfaction and quality of life emerging as the highest priorities. Other key outcomes included motivation, mental health, meaning at work, income satisfaction, work culture, professional growth and stress.
The result of this international Delphi-study provides a shared foundation for measuring wellbeing more consistently. This could help make studies easier to compare, strengthen evidence synthesis and support meaningful quality improvement.
The core outcome set has been published in eClinicalMedicine – The Lancet Discovery Science, and was co-authored by our team member Jesus Lopez Alcalde.
